Betting
on Super Bowl Winners
All
of the odds that are listed below are based
upon Las Vegas odds that were posted August
26, 2004 and may differ from your favorite
Internet Sport Book Super Bowl odds, which
generally gives you even better odds. One
thing is certain though; the odds will undoubtedly
change between the time of this posting
and the day of the big show.
Houston
Texans
Texans
(50:1)
The Texans are the newest team in the NFL
but they're way better than the 50:1 odds
they're being given. If you take a 10 dollar
flyer on these youngsters and they do the
unthinkable the payoff is 500 bucks. I'm
here to tell you they've got a better chance
then a shot in the dark. Future star QB
David Carr is driving closer and closer
to getting that Future tag removed from
his star title. I know it's just pre-season,
but he's not a scared youngster anymore,
he's firing the ball around the field like
he's been there for years. Watch him blow
up this season. He's got some young skill
position guys that have shown more than
just promise. Andre Johnson will show how
much he's grown up since his rookie season
and Dominique Davis will amaze as he did
last year. Let's not ignore the big guys
protecting Carr. They improved significantly
last year. If this year shows the same jump
in protection I don't think Carr will get
touched. Corey Bradford and Jabar Gaffney
are awesome number 2 and 3 receiving options
for Carr. Bradford always has been an awesome
deep threat with good size and blazing speed
averaging close to 20 yards a catch last
year, and Jabar Gaffney is the team's best
route runner. Tight end Billy Miller, a
former wide receiver, is one of the best
receiving tight ends in the league. Watch
the Texans run and gun there way into the
playoffs. The Texans defense has been their
strongest unit since their inception into
the league. Aaron Glenn is one of the NFL's
best corners. You could say the same for
Jaime Sharper at outside linebacker. Dunta
Robinson is as fast as advertised and fellow
rookie Jason Babin's pass rush has him penciled
in as a key player. The Texans just might
have the perfect combo of veterans and youngsters
to lead them to the Super Bowl. At 50:1,
I love the Texans.

Other
Intriguing Prospects: The Seahawks
at 12:1, the Panthers at 15:1,
and the Steelers at 20:1 are also worth
recognizing. The Hawks are loaded at every
position and have shown a confidence that
makes them exciting. The Panthers at 15:1
went to the Super Bowl last year
and
almost beat the heroic Patriots. The Steelers
have 3 amazing wide receivers and Duce Staley
has looked great in the pre-season. He was
underused last year in Philly, and I'm sure
he's out to prove it. Add these three teams
to the list. Take a chance on one of the
teams in my elite eight and come out with
a little, or a lot of pocket cash!
