Fantasy Draft Frenzy Analysis by Lucky Lester
Round
1 Picks
1. Bryan Weimer - Bay
City Bombers - Ladainian Tomlinson
2. AJ Cofrin - The AJ Team - Jamal Lewis
3. Bill Carpenter - Sea Chicken - Peyton
Manning
4. Uncle John - Vidcom Varmits - Priest
Holmes
5. Lucky Lester - Sounds Like Llama - Randy
Moss
6. Paul Armstrong-Screaming Orgasm Cleanup
Crew-Daunte Culpepper
7. Brian Stiles - Punks Ass Comedians -
Shaun Alexander
8. Big Puff - Big Puff's Goon Squad - Terrell
Owens
9. Eric Hayden - Ugly Hollywood Hookers
- Deuce McAllister
10. Lucky Lester - Sounds Like Llama (by
Krocidile) - Marvin Harrison
Round 1 Analysis:
Bryan Weimer passed
on his own belief that Priest Holmes will
have the best year to pick what he called
his "safe number 1 pick" Tomlinson.
I would have done the same thing. Priest
is a beast, the best in the league when
it comes to this game, but the past couple
years, he's not around to help his owners
in the playoffs. AJ picked second, and immediately
we had our first reach of the night. He
grabbed Ja-Lewis. He promptly backed his
pick by saying, "He'll be running like
he sold something," eliciting laughs
from the rest of us. Bill is your honorary
Peyton Manning guy, "Third year running,"
and with the 3rd pick we knew Peyton was
gone. My crazy Uncle John got the steal
of round 1, Priest Holmes. As it turns out,
I wasn't doing a good job hiding the wish
that he'd fall to me, so UJ looked right
at me when he made the pick and said, "What?
Did you think I'd let you take him?"
I didn't respond. Since Holmes was gone,
I went for my original plan and took the
top receiver in the game, Randy Moss. Paul
took Daunte. The Comedian picked Shaun Alexander,
and he's still hoping Alexander gets a deal
done soon. My buddy Puff stole my hopes
to have a 1-2 punch of Moss and Owens by
taking Terrell with the 8th pick. Son-of-a
Little Eric grabbed Deuce with the 9th pick
leaving me with many a good option. If I
went RB I would have nabbed Edgerrin James,
Clinton Portis, or Corey Dillon. But I stuck
to my original game and took Marvin Harrison.
I've always really liked Marvin. He was
down last year, but I'm predicting he'll
have a huge year. I almost picked Holt.
I understand I might have reached a little
for Harrison, especially now that I see
how the second round went. You know what
they say about hindsight.

Round
2 Picks
11. Kroc - Edgerrin
James
12. UHH - Clinton Portis
13. BPGS - Julius Jones
14. PAC - Ahman Green
15. SOCC - Domanick Davis
16. SLL - Corey Dillon
17. VV - Willis McGahee
18. SC - Donovan McNabb
19. TAJT - Tiki Barber
20. BCB - Torry Holt
Round 2 Analysis:
After trading his first
round pick away, Tyson finally got involved,
picking Edgerrin James. Tyson was pretty
excited. He said that "Last year Edge
had his highest numbers since his second
season in the pros; I plan to see a lot
more of that this year." Eric took
Portis with the 12th pick, hoping out loud
that, "
he doesn't have another
year like he did in his first season with
Washington." We'll see. The Goon Squad
owner, Big Puff, held true to his name by
taking second year man Julius Jones with
the 3rd pick in round 2. I think he's one
of the most overrated guys in fantasy football.
Stiles grabbed his second running back of
the draft, Ahman Green. Perverted Paul (as
we started calling him at this point) took
Domanick Davis 15th. This is where I realized
that I could have waited to grab Harrison.
It didn't matter though, because Corey Dillon
was still on the board. I took the former
Husky. My crazy uncle took Willis McGahee,
which got a couple of "Injury prone"
calls from Perv-Paul, AJ, and Big Puff.
On a side note, Willis has completely recovered
from his only knee injury of his career.
He's not injury prone. He's had an injury.
With his 2nd pick, Bill stole the rest of
the groups gasp by taking his second quarterback,
Donovan McNabb. You never think you're going
to see something like this when you start
a draft, but there's always one guy who
tries to stun. Bill's that guy. I immediately
had to ask him why. He responded, "What
I figure is, someone will want a top QB,
and trade me what I want." I thought
Bill could have just taken who he wanted
then, but who am I to foil his master plans?
AJ grabbed his second running back with
the 9th pick in round 2, Tiki Barber. (Last
year, Tiki wasn't picked until round 10.
Quite the jump) Bryan Weimer took the guy
I almost picked with the 10th pick in round
1, Torry Holt. After 2 rounds there were
13 running backs taken, 3 quarterbacks gone,
and 4 wide receivers off the board.

Round
3 Picks
21. BCB - Antonio
Gates
22. TAJT - Michael Vick
23. SC - Warrick Dunn
24. VV - Javon Walker
25. Kroc(by SLL) - Curtis Martin
26. SOCC - Stephen Jackson
27. PAC - Chad Johnson
28. BPGS - Brett Favre
29. UHH - Kerry Collins
30. Kroc - Reggie Wayne
Round 3 Analysis:
Round 3 had more reaches
than value picks. I'm a strong believer
that tight ends shouldn't leave the board
until round 5, but Weimer thought otherwise.
After listening to him run his mouth about
it, "This is what I'm thinking
There are only three or four tight ends
that are good enough to warrant getting
picked before round 10. There are only 2
(Gates and Gonzalez) that produce on a weekly
basis. Gates is the best one, and can only
get better. Now I have a sure spot on my
roster (injuries aside) for 16 weeks. And
I know I have the best player at that position
every week. A point scorer at TE. I love
that," I'm closer to agreeing with
him than not. Also, I don't think he could
have waited until the last pick of round
4 and still get Gates. He was still a reach.
AJ reached for Mike Vick, the immensely
talented Mike Vick, the vast potential of
Mike Vick. Who knows, maybe this is the
year. Bill finally picked someone who wasn't
a quarterback, but still managed to reach
a couple rounds too far for Warrick Dunn.
The Varmits took Javon Walker, a bold move
for a hopeful packer fan as far as I'm concerned.
His reasoning; "If Javon Walker holds
out, the Packers season is over. If the
Packers season is over, I don't have much
to root for on Sunday anyway." With
the 5th pick of round 3, Tyson picked the
leading rusher from a year ago, Curtis Martin.
Stephen Jackson went next. He should have
a great year as a starter in St. Louis.
Chad Johnson, who just happens to be one
of my favorite players in the league, went
to the Punk Ass Comedians with the 27th
pick. He could have a huge year in Carson
Palmer's second year as a starter. Big Puff
reached all the way to Green Bay to pick
Brett Favre. There's no doubt in my mind
he could have been had in the 7th round
or lower. Kerry Collins was picked by Eric
Hayden with the second to last pick in round
3. Eric tends to put way to many marbles
into the potential of a new attack. Though
there's no question in my mind Collins will
have improved numbers from a year ago, this
was as big a reach as Favre, if not bigger.
With the last pick in round 3 Tyson took
Reggie Wayne who finally broke out last
year. I thought there were many better prospects
at WR than Wayne. (Boldin, Horn, Ward, Andre
Johnson)

Round
4 Picks
31. Kroc - Tom Brady
32. HWH - Joe Horn
33. BPGS - Cadillac Williams
34. PAC - Andre Johnson
35. SOCC - Roy Williams
36. Kroc(by SLL) - Tony Gonzalez
37. VV - Michael Clayton
38. SC - Brian Westbrook
39. PAC (by TAJT) - Lamont Jordan
40. BCB - Kevin Jones
Round 4 Analysis:
With the first
pick in round 4 Tyson did something nobody
had done the last 3 years I've played Fantasy.
He picked Tom Brady right where he should
be picked. He's an elite quarterback that
gets overlooked and underrated every single
year. Not this year. Perv-Paul took Joe
Horn with his 4th rounder, and Big Puff
took Cadillac Williams with the 32nd pick.
Puff then said, "If I know John, and
I do know John, (he doesn't actually know
Gruden) he's going to feed his rookie work
horse, and grin about it all the way to
the playoffs." Puff enjoys talking.
With his first pick in round 4 (he has another
from the AJ team trade) Stiles snagged Andre
Johnson. "He's going to blow up this
year," said Brian. Perv-Paul went with
the first of three talented wide receivers
in Detroit, grabbing Roy Williams with the
35th pick. Paul manages to make me laugh
every year. Too often he'll pass on someone
like Hines Ward or Anquan Boldin to take
a second year guy that's "expected
to improve in his second season." He
did it with Chad Johnson a few years back
and it turned out great, but he's about
1/5 with that strategy, and that doesn't
cut it. Tyson took Tony Gonzalez with his
second pick in round 4 (he got that pick
from the trade with me). So, as it turns
out I traded Marvin Harrison (pick 10) for
Curtis Martin and Tony Gonzalez. Maybe that
trade wasn't such a good idea for me after
all. Good snakelike work on his part though.
Uncle John got suckered in to a productive
rookie from a year ago, Michael Clayton
of Tampa Bay. Clayton had a huge year for
a rookie in '03-'04. Brian Westbrook slipped
to Sea Chicken with the 38th pick. The only
way I can explain a stud like Westbrook
dropping to the 4th round has to be the
high number of good backs available this
year. Stiles grabbed Lamont Jordan with
his second 4th round pick. Bryan Weimer
had the best pick in round 4, taking Kevin
Jones 40th. Jones led the league in rushing
the last 8 games of the regular season.
He's primed for a huge year. He's as talented
as they come, big and fast, and in a system
where opponents have to pay attention to
guys like Mike Williams, Charles Rogers,
and Roy Williams.

Round
5 Picks
41. BCB - Hines
Ward
42. TAJT - Anquan Boldin
43. SC - Jeremy Shockey
44. VV - Darrell Jackson
45. SLL - Tatum Bell
46. SOCC - Laveraneus Coles
47. PAC - Todd Heap
48. BPGS - Nate Burleson
49. UHH - Jimmy Smith
50. Kroc - David Akers
Round 5 Analysis:
Bryan Weimer followed
a great pick in round 4 with another great
value steal in round 5, Hines Ward. It's
amazing how much Ward gets underestimated
every single year. Now he's the only go
to guy on his team. I agree with Bryan's
words, "I'll expect right around 100
catches from Hines in '05." Anquan
Boldin made it two WR's in a row when AJ
picked him 42nd. I wouldn't be surprised
if Boldin matched his fabulous rookie numbers.
If Warner can be a shadow of his former
self, that team has a chance to put up good
numbers through the air. Jeremy Shockey
and his touchdown dropping hands got picked
by Bill with the 43rd overall pick. I'll
give it to Jeremy, when he has the ball
he straight plows people. Unfortunately
he loves to drop the ball in the end-zone
just as much as he likes to be an idiot
in interviews. Darrell Jackson is ready
to catch more than 90 passes with Koren
Robinson off the team in rehab somewhere.
Uncle John picked him 44th overall, and
he's "ready to cash in on that situation."
I went with Tatum Bell, hoping his speed
and the system he's in help him become the
next great Denver running back. The trading
of Reughben Droughns helped my decision
as well. The way I see it, if Denver trusts
Bell so do I. Coles was picked by Paul,
then Todd Heap became the 4th TE off the
board when Brian Stiles grabbed him with
the 7th pick in round 5. Nate Burleson's
in a new role as the number one receiver
in Minnesota. That's why Puff grabbed him
with the 8th pick in this round. Nate showed
the NFL he could produce without Randy in
the lineup when Moss was hurt last year.
He gets 16 games to prove it again this
year. Old reliable Jimmy Smith was taken
with the 9th pick in round 5 by Eric who,
"Loves to see old men run bye and catch
touchdowns over young fast corners."
Tyson suggested that, "Eric just likes
watching old men." No one argued immediately.
After eliciting a short silence from the
rest of us, Tyson, for the third year in
a row, was the first to take a kicker. He
drafted David Akers. This is way to early
to draft a kicker. I think Akers is the
best kicker available, so I don't necessarily
disagree with the pick. However, I am a
strong advocate for waiting until the last
couple picks to take a kicker, and Tyson
could have used someone like Steve Smith,
Rudi Johnson, or Plexico Burress, instead
of reaching so far here.

Round
6 Picks
51. Kroc- Ravens D
52. UHH- Chris Brown
53. BPGS- J.J. Arrington
54. PAC- Matt Hasselbeck
55. SOCC- Algae Crumpler
56. SLL- Steve Smith
57. VV- Fred Taylor
58. SC- Plexico Burress
59. TAJT- Rudi Johnson
60. BCB- Drew Brees
Round 6 Analysis:
Tyson, in all his glory,
picked the Ravens D. He was, once again,
the first person to select a low position
like defense. This is a strategy I don't
abide by, but it does leave you with the
best at those positions. Bryan Weimer did
the same thing with Antonio Gates in round
3. The Hookers selected Chris Brown, claiming
that, "If he stays healthy, he's a
top round talent." Oh, Eric, if he
stays healthy indeed. Puff went for another
rookie as his third running back. That leaves
him with 3 running backs in six rounds that
have a combined 7 games started amongst
them. (Jones-7, Williams-0, Arrington-0)
I wouldn't be excited about that. Stiles
went searching for upside with Matt Hasselbeck.
If you remember correctly, last years predictions
were riddled with Seahawk praise, and Hasselbeck
numbers. Stiles thinks, "This is the
year Matt finally puts it together for the
entire season. He's signed and protected
with the signing of Walter Jones."
I try to abide by the rule, "Never
pick a Hawk unless it's Alexander."
Paul was excited to grab Algae Crumpler
with the 6th round pick. He was hollering
about how, "He'll be the highest scoring
TE this year." (He never wins Fantasy)
I think I stole Steve Smith in the this
round. He's awesome and fast. He's a big
time play maker. His injury from last year
will have no effect on his ability to get
it done this year. But
should I have
picked Rudi? John went for a "healthy"
Fred Taylor. To put it nicely, he's more
optimistic than I am. Bill had a nice pick
with his 7th rounder, getting Plexico Burress
who he thinks "will be a touchdown
machine with Mini-Manning running the show."
AJ found gold with Rudi Johnson in round
6. He'll have a better year this year than
he did last year. Last year he was good.
This pick makes me wonder what John was
thinking picking Taylor. Bryan got a solid
player in Drew Brees with the last pick
of the round. Brees is confident, accurate,
and his weapons are ready to get them back
to the playoffs. He'll out perform a few
quarterbacks picked ahead of him, I'm sure
of it. Mark my words, Drew Brees throws
more touchdown passes than Favre, Collins,
and Hasselbeck

Round
7 Picks
61. BCB- Deshaun Foster
62. TAJT- Jason Whitten
63. SC- Isacc Bruce
64. VV- Marc Bulger
65. SLL- Michael Bennett
66. SOCC- Ashley Lelie
67. PAC- Jerry Porter
68. BPGS- Jake Delhomme
69. UHH- Buffalo D
70. Kroc- Duce Staley
Round 7 Analysis:
The Bombers drafted Foster with the 1st
pick of round 7. Bryan claimed he'd start
Foster if he was healthy and the number
one back in Carolina. I still bet he starts
Tomlinson and Kevin Jones just about every
week. AJ grabbed Jason Whitten, who has
slipped in many a mock draft, but was picked
at a good spot with the 62nd pick here.
Bill grabbed one of the most consistent
fantasy receivers of all time, Isaac Bruce.
Bruce is good for about 9-10 points every
week, even now that he's past his wonder
years. John picked an overrated Marc Bulger,
who has never thrown more than 22 touchdown
passes in a single year. Pretty low for
the quarterback of the greatest show on
turf. I was happy to find Michael Bennett
in this round. Bennett can score from anywhere
on the field. And for the first time in
awhile, he's 100% healthy, and the unquestioned
number one back in Minnesota. Now that Randy's
gone, look for Mike Tice to find safety
in rushing. The Perv took talented but stagnant
Ashley Lelie. Paul's hoping, "this
is the year Lelie does what everyone has
said he's going to do." Paul likes
to quote his magazine. Brian Stiles took
Jerry Porter with the 67th pick. Do you
think Porter will have some 1 on 1 opps
with Randy on his squad? I'm predicting
Porter gets a new career high for touchdowns
in '05. Next, Big P took Delhomme a little
too early for my taste. The Hollywood Hookers
took a very good defense in Buffalo. They
will improve with a better offense. Tyson
picked up Duce Staley, who I'm sure will
score more touchdowns this year than last,
though it'd be almost impossible not to.

Round
8 Picks
71. Kroc - Deion
Branch
72. UHH - Dallas Clark
73. BPGS - Sebastian Janikowski
74. PAC - Chris Chambers
75. SOCC - New England D
76. SLL - Carson Palmer
77. VV - Randy McMichael
78. SC - Steelers D
79. TAJT - Lee Evans
80. BCB - Mushin Muhammad
Round 8 Analysis:
It was a great
move by Tyson at the top of round 8 picking
the number one receiver on New Englands
roster. Branch's numbers should improve
exponentially with the departure of David
Patten. Eric drafted the only receiving
threat at tight end the Colts have, Dallas
Clark. This was one of Eric's best picks
in the draft. Clark should catch tons of
passes, and get all the touchdown opportunities
Marcus Pollard use to get. Puff took Janikowski
to sure up his Goon Squad. It was voted
on by the other owners, and 7 of us picked
SeaBass as the captain of Big P's team.
Brian Stiles took some bold steps toward
Miami, taking the first Miami player off
the board, Chris Chambers. I'm sure Chambers
will benefit from the intense quarterback
competition between two all-pros, Gus Frerotte
and AJ Feely. Right. The Perv went defense
with his 8th round draft pick, taking the
ever-steady New England Patriots. I grabbed
Carson Palmer 76th overall to a couple of
chuckles and a few outright laughs. I scoff
at these morons. In fact, I put $10 for
anyone who wanted action, especially Big
Puff, that Palmer would have more fantasy
points than both Brett Favre and Jake Delhomme.
In fact, I predict right now that Palmer
will be a top 5 fantasy quarterback this
coming year. Puff took the bet. So did the
donkey comedian. John must have gotten jealous
of Stiles plan to hog all the Dolphins,
because he took Randy McMichael with the
77th overall pick. Bill took a good Steelers
D with his 8th rounder. AJ picked a great
second year receiver, Lee Evans. People
are saying lots of things about Evans
"he's great", "he's overrated
with Losman at Q", "he's not going
to get as many chances." Let me tell
you how it is. Losman is a step up from
Drew Bledsoe. He can't possibly make as
many mistakes as Drew did last year. Even
if he does, he still has a pair of wheels
to get him out of trouble from time to time.
That'll be a boost after having old cement
boots running the show the past two seasons.
Bryan got another steal when he grabbed
Mushin Muhammad off the board at the end
of round 8. If he plays even close to the
level he played at last year, he'll be real
hard to keep out of the starting lineup.

Round
9 Picks
81. BCB - Derrick
Mason
82. TAJT - Cedric Benson
83. SC - Mike Vanderjagt
84. VV - Larry Fitzgerald
85. SLL - Eagles Defense
86. SOCC - Adam Vinatieri
87. PAC - Carolina D
88. BPGS - Jake Plummer
89. UHH - Chad Pennington
90. Kroc - Trent Green
Round 9 Analysis:
Bryan made it
two great receiver picks in a row with the
addition of Derrick Mason 81st overall.
Mason produced last year with a terrible
Titans team, without his longtime quarterback
in the mix. Mason has always been underrated,
but this year he'll show he belongs in the
group of great receivers when he helps the
Ravens to the next level. AJ took Benson,
who will get ample opportunity to score
every chance the Bears get near the end
zone. There are no guarantees that number
is more than once a game. Vanderjagt and
his big dumb mouth got picked up by Bill
with the 3rd pick in round 8. He's a solid
kicker, but last year he didn't get many
field goal attempts because of the potency
of the Colts offense. This year might show
much of the same. Larry Fitzgerald had an
average year in his first season. Well,
UJ thinks "He's going to have a big
touchdown parade with Warner tossing him
the pig!" Larry can score touchdowns,
there's no question about that. I took what
I think to be one of the top 3 defenses
in the league, the Eagles. Philly had 2
first year starters at corner, and they
produced a good deal of interceptions. This
year should be even better. Vinatieri is
a great kicker. "As solid as they come,"
says Perv Paul, who waited 4 rounds since
Akers to grab the second kicker off the
board. Stiles took another quality defense
(Panthers) that should be even better this
year with the addition of hard nosed cover-man
Ken Lucas. The Goon Squad owner took his
3rd quarterback, Jake Plummer. I told him
it's too bad he picked quarterbacks in rounds
3 and 7 when the guy he'll end up starting
was had in round 9. I wasn't the only one
who thought that. Eric Hayden took Chad
Pennington, hoping that, "Coles should
help Chad get back to his old self."
Tyson stole another perennial fantasy workhorse,
Trent Green, with the last pick in round
9. This is the farthest Green has fallen
in the last few years.

Round
10 Picks
91. SLL(by Kroc)
- Eric Moulds
92. UHH - Rod Smith
93. BPGS - Redskins D
94. PAC - Ronnie Brown
95. SOCC - Aaron Brooks
96. SLL - Larry Johnson
97. VV - David Carr
98. SC - Antoine Smith
99. TAJT - Drew Bennett
100. BCB - Matt Stover
Round 10 Analysis:
Round 10 was the round I got my other pick
in the trade with Tyson. With the first
of my two 10th round picks I took Eric Moulds.
Moulds is a producer. Many people think
his level of play will decline this year
with Lee Evans catching more balls, but
I disagree. I think Moulds is still the
bigger target and better rout runner. And
if I know quarterbacks, there is nothing
better than a big target with great hands
who is always where he's supposed to be.
At pick 92, the Hookers took another grandfather
of football, Rod Smith. Smith also continues
to get the job done year in and year out.
The Goons made another goonish move, taking
the Redskins D who lost their most consistent
linebacker and best corner. They're a good
D, but this early? Stiles took his second
Dolphin, Ronnie Brown. Brown might turn
out to be a great pick. He's the starter
in Miami, a team that can't throw, so he
should get ample opportunity to break some
big runs. If I was Nick Saban, I might just
give him the ball 35-40 times a game. Think
about his options, Frerotte or Feely throwing
the ball? Paul took the inconsistent, but
productive Aaron Brooks. Brooks has too
many games where his fantasy points linger
in single digits, but manages to consistently
be a top tier fantasy quarterback by years
end. I took Priest II with the 96th overall
pick, my second of round 10. The way I'm
thinking, if Priest gets hurt, Larry Johnson
is the new starter, and he'll be as good
a back as the league has to offer. Uncle
John took David Carr, who is, once again,
"set for a break out year." Bill
took Antoine Smith, prompting more than
a couple people to ask, "Who the hell
does he play for?" sending Bill into
a scuffle, only to finally answer, "I
think he's in New Orleans." I think
he's right, but I think he's confused about
the playing time that he'll be getting in
Saintland. AJ took Drew Bennett, who had
the best 8 games of his life the second
half of last season. With the century pick,
Bryan took a very accurate kicker who he
thinks, "should have a shit load of
chances this year with all the new weapons
the Ravens have on their roster." They
still have Boller running the show. He manages
to take chances away from kickers.

Round
11 Picks
101. BCB - Steve
McNair
102. TAJT - Byron Leftwich
103. SC - Jeremy Stevens
104. VV - Falcons D
105. SLL - Kurt Warner
106. SOCC - Kevan Barlow
107. PAC - Joey Harrington
108. BPGS - Mike Williams
109. UHH - Thomas Jones
110. Kroc - Donald Driver
Round 11 Analysis:
Bryan took the
former MVP of the league Steve McNair with
the first pick in the 11th round. McNair
is going to find it tough without his old
go-to-guy, Derrick Mason. He's still Air
McNair though, so he was a good flier in
round 11. AJ took Byron Leftwich, whose
always had the skill set, but hasn't quite
used them to the advantage of fantasy owners
yet. He should have a good year in a more
vertical passing game. Bill, Seahawk fan
extraordinaire, took the highly talented
and troublesome Jeremy Stevens. With Mili
resigning, I'm afraid the Hawks will continue
their TE by committee approach that makes
both Mili and Stevens hard to own. John
took the Falcon D, which was average a year
ago, but should be improved after a decent
off-season. In hopes that Kurt Warner plays
like he did in his first few years, I decided
to take him 105th. Warner has all the players
he needs to succeed, but this isn't the
first time for that. Barlow took the biggest
tumble from a year ago. Paul decided to
take Barlow with his 11th pick, hoping that
he plays like the magazines said he would.
Paul's an accountant. Stiles took Joey Harrington,
immediately assuring that, "He'll be
the starter all year. Think Drew Brees."
When I think Drew Brees and Joey Harrington,
I see a lot of the same troubles from year
to year. Joey has a good coach, and the
Lions haven't stopped drafting 1st round
touchdown makers since Joey came aboard.
Speak of the devil, Mike Williams, the latest
touchdown maker drafted by Detroit, made
his way off the board this round. Puff swooped
him with the 108th pick. Thomas Jones, who
had a great first year in Chicago, finally
got drafted at the 109 spot. Jones has gotten
the rawest deal of any pro running back
this year. He was the only offensive producer
for a sorry Bears team, and he still had
a handful of great games. But, the Bears
drafted Benson, and that's why Jones just
made his way off the board. Donald Driver
had a hell-of-a year in '04-'05. He had
84 catches for 1200 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Tyson said he "expects Driver to exceed
those numbers this year, because Brett will
look for other receivers more often, even
if Javon Walker doesn't hold out. Favre's
a grudge kind of guy." I think he has
a pretty good point. I also think 1200 yards
and 9 TDs makes a good starting receiver.

Round
12 Picks
111. Kroc - Antwaan
Randel El
112. UHH - T.J. Houshmandzadeh
113. BPGS - Jerome Bettis
114. PAC - Troy Williamson
115. SOCC - Santana Moss
116. SLL - L.J. Smith
117. VV - Eric Johnson
118. SC - Joe Jurevicius
119. TAJT - Colts D
120. BCB - Jaguars D
Round 12 Analysis:
Tyson's favorite
player is Antwaan Randel-El. He's picked
him each of the past two seasons, and this
year he's the number 2 receiver in Pittsburgh.
"This year he's actually a smart pick,"
Tyson said with grin. I agree. Eric grabbed
T.J. Houshmandzadeh with the 112th pick,
"hoping he builds on last years solid
season. Puff went for touchdown machine,
Jerome Bettis. Another perfect addition
to the goon squad, a team I've begun to
realize probably won't do so well. Staley
will once again get the bulk of the carries
in Pittsburgh. The Comedian took rookie
speedster Troy Williamson hoping, "He'll
get some good looks from the baby-handed
Culpepper because Randy's gone." The
little Perv took the speedy but inconsistent
Santana Moss 115th. I am very happy with
the addition of L.J. Smith to my team with
my 12th round pick. If Terrell doesn't show,
L.J. will be a top 3 fantasy TE. If TO does
show, L.J. will still get his fair share
of opportunities. Uncle John scoffed at
my decision to pass up an 80 catch tight
end like Eric Johnson to take Smith. He
took Johnson 117th. I'll admit, if Johnson
gets the chances he did last year, he'll
be a damn good TE. But I have a feeling
that entire passing game will struggle too
much this year to own any fantasy Niners,
save possibly Kevan Barlow. Bill solidified
his Seahawk attack taking the never-aging
Joe Jurevicius. Joe could grab the 2 spot
next to Jackson in Seattle, but I think
it will be more of a "by committee"
thing. Seattle has a handful of very fast
and talented young receivers that are dying
to get some run. Each of which have as much
upside in their pinkies as Joe has in his
entire body. AJ picked the Colts D. Maybe
he knows something I don't
nope, that
was just a bit of a gong show move. Give
him a little credit though, after the draft
he abandoned that pick altogether, saying,
"Can I just scratch them off my list
and pick someone else? That's the worst
pick ever." Touché my good man.
Bryan trumped AJ, taking a very good Jaguar
D with the last pick in round 12.

Round
13 Picks
121. BCB - Ben
Troupe
122. TAJT - Jeff Wilkins
123. SC - John Kasay
124. VV - Jason Elam
125. SLL - Eddie Kennison
126. SOCC - Ricky Williams
127. PAC - Josh Brown
128. BPGS - Jeb Putzier
129. UHH - Marshal Faulk
130. Kroc - Amani Toomer
Round 13 Analysis:
Bryan took Ben Troupe
with the 121st pick of the draft. He said,
"Troupe's just a backup in case something
terrible happens to Gates. Towards the end
of the year, Troupe could be comfortable
and getting some good looks from Volek."
Doesn't look like he's so sure about his
McNair pick. AJ took the consistent boot
of Jeff Wilkins with his 13th rounder. Wilkins
is accurate, kicks in a dome, and plays
for a high-scoring offense. Sea Chicken
took underrated John Kasay who had the 6th
best kicking accuracy last year. Uncle John
took "The Mile High Assassin"
with the 124th pick. Mile High Assassin?
He's old, what else is there? I picked Eddie
Kennison, thinking that he'd get a lot of
balls with Morton out of the picture. For
years fantasy owners have been waiting for
Easy Eddie to pull it together, I think
I might have gotten a steal with this pick.
Paul, in his distorted dreamy state, (Where
he is a mop-toting janitor, waiting griningly
for the web cam to capture the seen, so
he can skip in and physically clean up the
mess) took Ricky Williams. Honestly, my
guess is that Ricky never touches the field.
If he does, I can't imagine he'll be good
enough to warrant a fantasy spot. That said,
a flier on a former all-pro back with the
13 pick of the draft isn't the worst idea.
With his last pick, (because of the trade)
Brian Stiles selected Josh Brown who was
the 6th best kicker last year, hitting over
90% of his field goals. Good pick. Puff
took Jeb Putzier, which I find to be highly
questionable considering Jermaine Wiggins
is still on the board. Wiggins will definitely
out produce Putz. Eric took Marshal Faulk.
"There's no question he can still produce."
He's right, and Faulk's not a bad guy to
have around just in case. Tyson made another
great pick, selecting Amani Toomer 130th.
Even with the addition of Burress, Toomer
will still get plenty of chances, maybe
even more than Plex.

Round
14 Picks
131. Kroc - Bubba
Franks
132. UHH - Buccaneers D
133. BPGS - Keyshawn Johnson
134. TAJT(by PAC) - Peerless Price
135. SOCC- Lee Suggs
136. SLL - Jeff Reed
137. VV - Charles Rodgers
138. SC - Bears D
139. TAJT - Donte' Stallworth
140. BCB - Brandon Stokley
Round 14 Analysis:
Tyson took Bubba
Franks with his last selection. Bubba had
9 touchdowns last year, not bad for a TE.
With Brett, he'll always be a touchdown
threat. Eric Hayden went with the Bucc D,
which makes it 4 years in a row they've
been drafted. The Goon, I mean Big Puff,
took "The Mouth," Keyshawn Johnson
with the 133rd pick. I can't imagine he'll
be fantasy worthy. Look at Bledsoe's career
numbers, they're stunningly good. Too bad
he's fallen off the cliff of his career.
We'll see if a QB with the athleticism of
a fat 7th grader can buy enough time to
get the ultimate possession receiver the
ball. AJ had two picks in round 14. He took
Peerless Price with the 1st one. Will this
be the year Peerless finally hits his stride
with Mike Vick? Or will this be his last
year on the team? Paul "The Perv"
took Lee Suggs. "If Suggs gets to carry
the load, he'll surprise all of you."
If Suggs carries the load I'll be surprised.
I think he's the best back in Cleveland,
but why would the Browns trade for Droughns
if Suggs was going to be the unquestioned
starter? I got the kicker I coveted, Jeff
Reed. I think Reed will get plenty of chances
with Roethlisburger finding his way in his
second season. Uncle John took Charlie Rogers
for the third straight year claiming, "If
he gets hurt again this year, I'll blame
myself for the injury jinx." Bill took
the Bears defense, hoping Lovie Smith makes
his mark. AJ found Stallworth and all his
potential resting at the bottom of the draft
and couldn't hold back. Bryan took Brandon
Stokley with the last pick of our draft.
"Stokley will get more chances this
year than he did last year. Pollard is gone,
which means the double tight end set will
be all but forgotten, making room for Brandon
to play more snaps." Bryan's got a
point. Why didn't I pick him?
